Ya es octubre y desde Hoteles Spiwak damos la bienvenida a la Feria del Libro de Cali, uno de los más bonitos festivales en Colombia que celebran a las letras y la cultura en este mes.
Nuestra ciudad se viste de gala para una fiesta que reúne tanto a autores colombianos como a escritores internacionales en Cali, y donde personas de todas procedencias, unidas por el amor a la lectura, encuentran un paraíso de libros, charlas y actividades artísticas para alimentar el espíritu, sea a solas o en compañía.
Como todos los años, esta celebración de la literatura en Cali cuenta con un país como invitado de honor. Y en esta ocasión será Israel que, a través de su embajada (y con el apoyo del Ministerio de Cultura, la Universidad del Valle, la Secretaría de Cultura de la Alcaldía de Cali y nuestra Fundación Spiwak) nos trae conferencistas y representantes muy especiales como el gran novelista Nir Baram, el actor Ornan Braier, el guitarrista Yoav Esched; y los cocineros Avi Barak y Ayelet Vahnish, ésta última: la estrella del festival gastronómico que en el marco de esta feria se celebrará en las instalaciones de nuestro hermoso restaurante La Zarzuela en el Hotel Spiwak Chipichape.
¿Cuándo es la Feria del Libro en Cali?
De entre los eventos en Cali que se celebran en el último trimestre del año, éste es uno de los más esperados pues constituye el momento cenital de todos los encuentros intelectuales que se celebran en la ciudad.
Esta edición de 2022 inicia el jueves 13 de octubre y finaliza diez (10) días después, concretamente el domingo 23 de octubre.
Sin lugar a dudas, ésta es una de las ferias del libro en Colombia más importantes, siendo que se realiza en el suroccidente de nuestro país y es la más grande de esta región, lo que significa una oportunidad única para adquirir los títulos más leídos y sonados del año, así como el lugar preferido por muchos para empaparse sobre las nuevas tendencias literarias y el punto perfecto donde comprar libros en Cali.
¿Dónde ir a la Feria del Libro Cali 2022?
En su séptima entrega, esta feria en Cali repite su celebración en el Bulevar del Río, frente al Puente Ortiz y la iglesia de La Ermita, hacia el centro de nuestra capital departamental.
Más de 500 stands reúnen a editoriales, libreros y organizaciones colombianas (o del mundo) en un gran espacio lleno de interesantes ofertas literarias que comprenden todo tipo de retóricas como la narrativa, la lírica o poesía, el drama y el género didáctico.
Por celebrarse en sus calles y a cielo abierto, este es un evento gratuito de libre acceso para visitantes de todo espectro etario, social, político, racial, sexual, educativo, etc., y por esta razón se posiciona como uno de los más plurales festivales en Cali.
¿Qué hacer en la
Feria Internacional del Libro de Cali 2022?
Durante los once (11) días en que se llevará a cabo este festival, se realizarán muchas actividades que comprenden desde codearse con autores de nuestro país (y del planeta) hasta incluso dónde comer en Cali.
Escritores caleños, colombianos y foráneos se reunirán con sus lectores en animadas tertulias. Y conferencistas y artistas por igual impartirán interesantes disertaciones (o brindarán divertidos espectáculos y curiosas muestras) en cualquiera de las 22 carpas instaladas a lo largo del río Cali.
Conversatorios sobre el medio ambiente y el bienestar se ofrecerán como nuevos espacios de reflexión a tratar en esta versión anual, que además trae como novedad ser la primera feria dirigida por una mujer (la periodista Paola Guevara), y que posicionará el argumento “Pensar el hoy” como nueva temática en un año en el que la postpandemia, la guerra en Ucrania, las elecciones nacionales y las migraciones hacen parte del repertorio de contenidos a analizar en distintas conferencias (todas guiadas por diversos autores internacionales invitados y de nuestros escritores de Cali).
La mujer como tema, y visiones incluyentes sobre el espectro autista, déficit de atención, hiperactividad, síndrome de Down y otros harán parte de una muy especial discusión adeudada sobre la neurodiversidad: una materia que cobra protagonismo en esta edición de nuestra FIL Cali, en la que se pretende abordar un fenómeno usualmente obviado como lo es la soledad de los padres de familia y educadores al frente de este tópico, así como la desinformación de la sociedad respecto a este asunto.
Pero también habrá lugar para la lúdica, el entretenimiento y el aprendizaje de nuevas habilidades, por lo que se dictarán talleres de escritura y de ilustración, se realizará un concurso de microcuentos y hasta se harán piyamadas literarias, todo como parte de un programa que convierte a esta feria en el mejor sitio para aprender a crear en nuestra ciudad y donde leer en Cali.
Asimismo, nuestros invitados de la nación hebrea compartirán con el público un compendio de experiencias exóticas que van desde lo musical, lo literario y lo culinario, y que acercarán a la audiencia no sólo a lo que es la cultura israelí sino además a redescubrir tantos elementos comunes que hermanan a nuestros pueblos, desde esas devociones y simbologías compartidas hasta nuestra historia (no en vano nuestro inmenso Jorge Isaacs, autor de “María”, fue uno de los tantos judíos de Cali que aportaron a la construcción del imaginario colectivo y la grandeza literaria de nuestro país).
Al margen de esto se realizarán igualmente demostraciones gastronómicas que permitirán probar lo mejor de la cocina israelí en Cali, y que hacen de comer en la Feria del Libro de Cali 2022 una rica vivencia alternativa.

October: month of the Book Fair in Cali
It is already October and, from Spiwak Hotels, we welcome the Cali Book Fair: one of the most beautiful festivals in Colombia celebrating our culture and literature this month.
Our city gets ready for a party that brings together both Colombian authors and international writers in Cali, where people from all over, tied by the love of reading, find themselves in a paradise of books, talks, and artistic activities to feed the spirit, whether in someone’s company or simply alone.
Like every year, this celebration of literature in Cali has a country as the guest of honor. And on this occasion, it will be Israel that, through its embassy (and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Universidad del Valle, the Secretary of Culture of Cali’s Town Hall, and our Spiwak Foundation) will bring us very special speakers and representatives such as the famous novelist Nir Baram, the actor Ornan Braier, the guitarist Yoav Esched; and chefs Avi Barak and Ayelet Vahnish, the latter: the star of a Israeli food festival in Cali that will be held within the framework of this fair in the facilities of our beautiful La Zarzuela restaurant in the Spiwak Chipichape Hotel.
When will Cali’s Book Fair be held?
This 2022 edition begins on Thursday, October 13 and ends ten (10) days later: specifically on Sunday, October 23.
Among those events in Cali held during the last quarter of the year, this is the most anticipated intellectual encounter hosted in our city.
It is also one of the most important book fairs in Colombia, since it takes place in the southwestern part of our country: the first and largest book festival of our region…

Where will Cali Book Fair 2022 take place?
For its seventh celebration, this beloved fair in Cali repeats location on the Boulevard del Río, just in front of the Ortiz Bridge and the church of La Ermita, towards our capital’s downtown.
More than 500 stands will bring together publishers, booksellers, Colombian and world organizations in a large venue full of fascinating titles in categories like narrative, lyric or poetry, drama and didactic genre.
Due to its open air nature, set on our city streets, this is a free access event for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. And this makes it one of the most plural festivals in Cali.
What to do at the
International Book Fair of Cali 2022?
Many activities will be carried out during this eleven-day festival: from rubbing shoulders with authors from the whole planet to even amaze audiences on demonstrations of the best places where to eat in Cali.
Speakers and artists will present engaging talks, amusing performances, and quirky exhibits. And world-renowned writers will meet their readers in lively gatherings to be hosted under any of the 22 tents set up along the Cali River.
Conversations about the environment and well-being will also be provided in this annual version of our Cali’s Book Fest: the first to be conducted by a woman (journalist Paola Guevara), leading the argument ‘Thinking about today’, a new theme inspired on recent post-pandemic phenomena such as the war in Ukraine, national elections, massive migrations, and an ample sample of contents to be discussed in different conferences by international authors and writers from Cali.
Woman as a subject, and inclusive views on the autistic spectrum, attention deficit, hyperactivity, Down syndrome and others will be part of a much special discussion on neurodiversity: an issue under the spotlight of this edition, intended to address the struggles of parents and educators at the forefront of these conditions, fighting against social stigmas and usual misinformation regarding this matter.
But there will also be room to play and learn new skills! So writing and illustration workshops will be offered; a micro-story contest will be run; and there will even be literary sleepovers, all as part of a program making this event the best place to create in our city and by all means: where to read in Cali!
Likewise, our guests from the Hebrew nation will share with us a compendium of exotic experiences in music, arts and gastronomy, bringing audiences closer to not only what Israeli culture is but also to rediscover many elements that unite our people: from shared devotions and symbols to our common history (it is not casual our great Jorge Isaacs, author of “María”, was one of the many jews in Cali who helped build the collective imagination of our country and its literature).
Apart from that, food shows will also be carried out by letting anyone try the best of Israeli cuisine in Cali. A chapter that will make eating at the Cali International Book Fair 2022 a great remembrance.
